Monthly Writing Update – Feb 2016

  • Posted on February 7, 2016 at 11:19 am

So, I’ve decided that, since I have trouble keeping up with one post a week, much less two, I’m going to switch to a Monthly Writing Update, which will generally be published on the 5th or so of every month. As always, this will include my writing progress, writing goals, reading goals, and various other goals that I feel like sharing with you guys. I hope you don’t mind the change in format, but honestly, I feel like this is a bit more… uh. Honest.

Weekly Writing Update – 1/11/16

  • Posted on January 11, 2016 at 7:03 pm

It’s been quite a long time since we’ve done one of these! A weekly writing update is when I take a look back over the last week and determine what goals I’ve met and what goals I haven’t. Sometimes I’m proud of myself, and sometimes I’m not, and I find lately that that feels wrong. I should ALWAYS be proud of what I achieve, even if it isn’t what I wanted to achieve.  Trying to be more grateful for myself and my works is one of my goals!

Word Counts

Knight of Kuryle – Unknown wordcount (still need to download and use Scrivener to edit)

Ashes and Ink – The New Kaimi Rowe book – 25997 words – First draft

The Faery King’s Bride – A fanfic project I started a few days ago – 2702 words

Weekly Writing Update – 07/13/15

This is a really hard post to write. Recently, my anxiety lead me to lose my job. This lead to an extreme downswing in my depression. A lot of my self-worth is tied into how I can support myself, and it’s very hard to have any self-worth at all, when you know you are the cause of losing your own job. I can’t blame the work. It was exactly what I was told, and knew, to expect. All I can blame is this disease in my head that makes it impossible to pick up a phone without my heart beating terribly fast.

This should have been a triumphant month for me. I finally finished Knight of Kuryle, and I’m in the editing stage, before I can give it to beta readers. However, because of my downswing, I have had no energy for anything other than basic survival. There have been days where I cannot get dressed. There have been days I have eaten only one meal. My job search has turned up one part time, temporary position.

I have been plagued with doubts. How am I going to keep my apartment? How am I going to keep from inconveniencing those I care about? How am I going to get food? These are things that circle in my mind.

Weekly Writing Update – 06/28/15

This week has been a bit rough for me. I’ve been forced to take part time hours at my job, due to massive panic attacks, and I’m worried about next month’s rent. However, I remain hopeful. Worried, but hopeful. The book is coming along well! We’re towards the climax of it now, and that’s always fun!

Also, I’ve started up a new gaming group, of which we’re making meetings every other week. This means I can still spend time with my nakama, and have plenty of time to imagine the world I’ll be playing in too!

Word Counts:

First Book of the Kurylian Saga: 1.5 sections rewritten –

  1. Knight of Kuryle – 26,203 words – roughly two-thirds rewritten.

Kaimi Rowe Series: Seeker Born – Rough Draft – Restarted w/new concept

After much fiddling, and quite a bit of fuss, the new element is fitting in quite nicely, and adds a detailed nuance to the story that is QUITE entertaining <3 I’m working hard not to have to extend my deadline, but if there’s anything this world has taught me, it’s that sometimes things happen!

Also, I’m looking into switching lines of work again. Call centering has begun to take it’s toll again, in massive migraines and almost-panic-attacks. I’m thinking about taking up fortune telling. What do you think?

First Book of the Kurylian Saga: 1.5 sections rewritten –

I’m so close, guys, I can feel it! Unfortunately, i had to add in a whole new element with the Knight of Kuryle book, which is testing my limits aMAZINGLY. Who knew I was so bad at dialogue?! But I’m doing my best to get it in there, because it’s SO important.

Well, this is turning into more of a monthly writing update, honestly. But hey, if you learn one thing from me, it’s that plans change, and you have to move along with them. Anyway, I’ve been working steadily on rewriting Knight of Kuryle (working title), and I’m thinking I may have to extend the deadline for publication. Plots are expanding, and it’s tons of fun!

Weekly Writing Update – 04/17/15

Wow, take a look at that date. It’s been FOREVER hasn’t it? I’ve been without internet for a lot of it, due to comcast stating that our ‘internet signal was leaking’. Whatever THAT means. So, a few updates to my personal situation.

I no longer work at Zales, and am in fact with a previous employer, AFNI, inc. It is a call center, but as this is a work-at-home position, I should be able to balance work and writing, which will be nice. I managed to write an entire 150k word manuscript while working for afni last time. This time, I hope to do a lot more than that! <3

Another thing, I’m getting really into Midori-type travellers notebooks? And I’m thinking about creating my own Book-dori, which is a really interesting idea! I’d use it for bullet journalling and note-taking and idea-writing. So there’s that.

OH! And I am now the proud owner of a turtle! <3 Her name is Hermes, and she doesn’t seem to want to move much… >.> But other than that, she’s a sweetheart, and I adore her.

Word Counts:

First Book of the Kurylian Saga: 1.5 sections rewritten (Current total: 19,390 words)
